Default dual boot windows 2003 server and linux

Ok I am not sure if need to post this to Linux forum or not (mods move this to linux if it is not posted in correct forum ... LOL)

Anyways I wanna know how do I dual boot windows 2003 and Linux system? Most howto on net are Windows NT specific. Can I use Windows NT howto for window 2003?
Any suggestions…

It should be the same as you would for XP.

Probably a good idea to leave free space for Linux when you partition your harddrive for 2003. Some Linux install's can resize the partition for you though. Always make sure you have backed up all your important data.

Install Windows 2003 then install Linux, depending on the distro of Linux you are using it should pick up the Windows install and add it into the Grub/Lilo boot menu.

I hope I wasn't too vague.

I agree with Beresford, first backup the data

Many new distro support partition resize option. Since you have not specified the name of distro… I can’t comment much

But rule is same first install windows box (XP/2000/NT/2003/95/9 ha ha and next proceed to Linux installation. Most Linux distro detects the windows and creates appropriate entry using GRUB.

If you are new I recommend getting Ubuntu Linux. See old topic (information is same as XP)
