Goto PC BIOS setup and disable few things. It will help to boot any computer faster. No matter if you use Windows XP or Linux
Press F1 or F10 or supported key by your BIOS Look for POST test (quick power on self test) Enable this option so that it will not do all the tests. Disable boot up floppy seek option Disable boot delay option Also disable auto dictation of Hard disk and other IDE devices. Assign values manually and save the bios. Hope this helps

Clean your registry.
I had same problem after running program called Registry First Aid my speed improved. It may help you tooo… http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Reg1Aid/index.html Note that program is not free but it is shareware program. From site, "Tired of Windows® crashing? Sick of having software lock up on you or taking forever to load? The problem could be all of those incorrect registry entries caused by software installations and un-installations that went awry! Not all software un-installations do a complete job leaving behind numerous nagging file references in the Windows registry pointing to files that no longer exist. In time, you can end up with hundreds of these files that may slow down your computer and cause software to lock up, requiring a hard reboot of your computer. " I Highly recommend it to anyone |

You speed up boot process by enabling a boot defragment. So all your files required for boot placed to next one another on your hard disk drive.
Open registry editor and look for: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOpt imizeFunction Set Enable to Y Save and exit |
