Default Set and access apache from DSL / ADSL connection

Hi all i have already setup and running a web server in my debian box and i wonder how can i access it from the internet(my personal website and the box by ssh).My home LAN excepts my debian box has and a win xp box from where i connect via ssh to debian. The two of them are connected to the internet by my adsl router(Level One FBR-1407A).As far from now from the search i have done i figure out that i have to create an account to dyndns.com and then install and setup ddclient in debian.I have done that but the only i achieved is to ping my account.Does anyone have any ideas?

You need to enable virtual server or port forwarding on DSL/ADSL router. So request will come to router -> forwarded to your internal apache server

Open router web /admin interface and look for server port forwarding

Generally router admin IP is 192.168.1.1, open a web browser and type http://192.168.1.1

Find out port forwarding

Enter 80 as port forwarding and internal IP of apache web server such as 192.168.1.100 and port 80

Save changes and reboot router.

Make sure Linux server firewall and router firewall allowing port 80 traffic.

I enable virtual server on my DSL/ADSL router for web server and ssh and they are working .One more question i want to ask is if it is good to change the default port of e.g. ssh to an another for security reasons?

Yes you should change default port to something else. Also activate and configure firewall. See Failed SSH login attempts and how to avoid brute ssh attacks for more information.
