Hey,
I am having problems dealing with "load" on my apache server (on a windows server 2003). I know the questions here are generally for linux and etc but I have my FreeBSD 7 apache server running extremely smoothly - yet on windows I seem to be having problems. I actually found that disabling the custom logs helps alot and its really smooth - but I was wondering if there is a reason for this and if I could possible do something to enable them again. I have also enabled PHP to run as fcgi and that seemed to have helped a lot. I do not see apache utilizing the multi-core/processors - any way I can get it to start using them - or use them in a more optimized manner? I have also noticed that Apache is unable to provide speeds higher than 500KB/s in downloads. Not a big issue because I do not tend to provide downloads but I was wondering why this is the case. As well, what are some other optimizations that I can do to help improve the stability and performance? Thanks! |

If you see high disk I/O try adding software or hardware RAID.
For php add opcode such as xcache or any other that runs on Windows sever.

Hey thanks for the reply.
I have 4 GB ram on this server - should I still go ahead and install something like eAccelerator or mem cache its self? And are there no other specific "Apache" optimizations that I can use? The processor is fancy, an 8 core processor (single). I cannot go with RAID at this time however I will monitor the I/O from Apache (right now it looks good, however the logs are disabled). Thanks, Aaron |

Yes, install eAccelerator. Can you attach your httpd.conf? Also, specify your traffic info like how many connections per seconds.

configuration is bigger than your attachment or max chars allowed.
But here you go Apache Log File pastebin - collaborative debugging tool I have also installed eAccelerator now and so far so good! (Custom logs still disabled) P.S. I use a macro/virtual host configuration for the actual website - so if it may seem weird that the custom logs in the httpd.config is enabled, its because its not in use. For the actual trafficked website/folder I have disabled custom logs. As well, anyone have a good configuration for mod_security2? I have seen a couple of mod_security but they do not work for mod_security2. Last edited by AaronDM; 28-12-2009 at 03:00 AM. |
