Hi,
The command resulted in /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/xcache.so . Hence i changed the path in /etc/php.d/xcache.ini file. Now the header looks like:

[xcache-common]
; change me - 64 bit php => /usr/lib64/php/modules/xcache.so
; 32 bit php => /usr/lib/php/modules/xcache.so
zend_extension = /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20060613/xcache.so

After this i restarted the apache service using service httpd restart. But Still the output for php -v remains same as:
PHP 5.2.9 (cli) (built: Jun 18 2009 21:41:54)
Copyright (c) 1997-2009 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2009 Zend Technologies

& the output of admin folder for xcache under web folder results in same
XCache is not loaded

Please check /etc/php.ini

Please guide.

No i am not using any control panel. I guess some builds are broken with cent os 5.3. I am facing problems with sendmail also. getting stat=Deferred: Connection refused by [127.0.0.1] in the logs.
