Thread: Manipulating Downloaded E-ail Graphics Attachments

Excuse the title and explanation as well, but allow me to give you a "what if" and someone I hope will tell me how and what program to use in Lenny.

Lets say I receive an e-mail with a graphic I download. I want to be able to add a text caption to that download and create an attachment for another e-mail.
What would I use and how to or point me to an article

It depends upon your e-mail client like Mozilla Thunderbird. Can you tell us name of your e-mail client? May be we can suggest something for you...

The answer to my e-mail client may be more involved then anticipated.
My ISP is Yahoo ATT and when I switched to Linux initially I had what I considered some problems and an easy out for me at least was to sign up for gmail. So all my sbcglobal.net goes to gmail.
I find it great to receive but when I am forwarding a post with graphics depending on how it was sent it turns out to be a chore sometimes.
So besides all my yahoo mail going to gmail it also goes to evolution which is friendly forwarding graphics.

If you are speaking of manipulating a photo to add text after you download it from email. There are other ways of doing this besides a mail client.


You can use the Gimp Image program. Gimp can be started from the applications > Graphics > GIMP Image Editor from the menu.

Here is a tutorial for adding text to a photo.
