Default Checking File System on Shutdown

Several months ago there was a tip about checking the file system on shutdown, rather than when you are booting up. I have a cron file that will shut down my computer at a particular time each day, and I would like to have the files checked then, rather than to delay me when I am booting up. I have been unable to find that tip in nixCraft, even after searching all the archives.

Can anyone point me to that tip, or tell me how to accomplish the task outlined above?

Thank you.
