Default Arrow and Navigation Keys Not working

I have this problem on kernel 2.6.27-7-generic, in Intrepid with KDE 4.1

Arrows and Navigation keys do not work in Bash, but are fine everywhere else. I tried two different keyboards, and corresponding layouts. But the keys just don't work in shell (Bash or csh)

Any ideas?

ps - it is Arrow (not aroow)
