Post connecting ubuntu to a windows network

ive been having trouble connecting to my friends computer. he's running windows xp and im running ubuntu. we've tried setting up a network, it worked for a bit then it just disappeared . any thoughts?

Use samba server to share files, folders and printers between Windows and Linux boxes.

Default Trouble pinging the network

Hi all,

I am connected to the Internert through router by means of wireless connection....All I now need is to share my windows Computer which is connected to LAN and I am not able to ping any computer on the network except the gateway that is server...Please help me solve this problem
