We have Solaris 10 running on a SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440. We did a reboot to that box & the machine is not coming up again. It says "WARNING: add_spec: No major number for SUNW,socal". Upon booting through the cdrom in the single usermode & mounting the file system of the hard disk, we found that /etc/driver_aliases file was missing. I doubt it has several unique entries for different hardware. I even tried copying /etc/driver_aliases from cdrom after booting through the cdrom. But it didn't work. Is there any way to recover that file?
