    Default CentOS hardware migration...

I have ordered a motherboard and hard drives to build a rack server. While I'm waiting for the parts to come in, I thought I might go ahead and start the installation of CentOS and server software on a motherboard and hard drive I have in stock.

I'll admit I've been spoiled with the ability of OSX to just take the hard drive and plug it into any Mac and it boots. (Intel and PowerPC difference excepted).

What am I likely to run into when I go to transfer the info to another HD and motherboard?

It should work. Are you using server/workstation grade parts?

No, but I could. My application isn't that critical. What is your experience with server vs. consumer grade parts?

99% cases it works. But, if you have a new and fancy hardware such as UEFI BIOS, system may not support or boot the current centos kernel. Same goes with propitiatory hardware driver such as Nvidia or AMD/ATI.
