Question lighttpd - webdav - editing / replacing PHP files

I have successfully set up webDAV on lighttpd.
Everything is working great, except that I cannot edit / replace PHP files, which is understandable since server side scripts are being rendered following a browser-like GET command.
I've read somewhere that setting a directive like fastcgi.server = () in the webdav directory block in lighttpd.conf should do it, although it hasn't changed anything for me.
