Default Linux Postfix separate incoming and outgoing (pop3/imap4) mail server

    Hi,

I want to have separate incoming and outgoing mail servers with smtp authentication.
Server1 will act as incoming mail server
Server2 will act as outgoing mail server

How can i authenticate domains users of Server1 from Server2 for smtp authentication.

    Any help please

use for example MySQL database on one of them and store user accounts there. Then you can access it from both servers.

Postfix (and sendmail) can use mysql for auth purpose. You need to make sure both smtp and pop3/imap server can talk to each other. You need to use network storage such as NAS or NFS to store mailboxes so that both server can access the data.

Use postfixadmin ( download Postfix Admin - Web based administration interface ) - a web based interface used to manage mailboxes, virtual domains and alias.

You run MTA (postfix or sendmail) on smtp.example.com. This is called mail hub. All emails will be forwarded to this server from LAN / WAN and the Internet. The mail hub need to be configured to deliver mail to pop3.example.com. It will use auth data from mysql db.

The pop3.example.com will run actual pop3/imap4 server. It will use auth data from mysql db.

You can read this page Mail server clustering for more.

Is there not any possibility to connect using odbc connector to MSSQL DB from linux to windows. Because i don't want to have NAS or NFS. I simple want that postfix or sendmail could directly connect to Windows Server MSSQL DB through odbc and could authenticate users.
