    Default PostgreSQL secure

    Hello,
I want to start PostgreSQL to use secure loging. Therefore i want to create a remote secure connection using the hostssl option in pg_hba.conf. However it is claimed that the PostgreSQL server must also be running with the -l (SSL) and -i (TCP/IP) options.
I satrt the postgresql with "service postgresql start"
Where shall i put hteese options to start PSQL with such config?

    Default

well i do this manually using this this command

    /usr/local/postgres/bin/pg_ctl -D /usr/local/postgres/data/ -o '-i -B 1000000 -N 5000' start

(The above is for 16 GB RAM and 8 Core CPU, so adjust above according to your server H/W conf)

and those you want extra stuffs to be start with this.... set the parameter in postgresql.conf

Like logging using syslog and ssl (ssl if you already setup that)

Block postgresql access at firewall level and only allow web server or client app to connect it.

    Configure db rights with password.

Run postgresql in jail or XEN / KVM.
