Thumbs up Domain name registrar recommendation

    Hello everyone,

My manager is looking for a domain name. Can anyone recommend a good domain name registrar? Our corporate domain registered with our ISP and they stopped offering new domain name. This will also be used as a company name.

    Thanks.

If you need names @ cheap prices try Godaddy

If you need more reliability and freedom go with gandi ( Nom de domaine et hébergement cloud - Gandi.net ), having said that I personally use Godaddy and our corporate domain is managed by markmonitor (they are very expensive and only meant for large corporates).

What about your hosting company? They do provide free domain with hosting package. Whatever you do, DO NOT go with Indian domain registrar, they sucks big time:

    1. Expensive
    2. Sow in support
    3. May not have all features

+1 for Godaddy only for domains.

    Go Daddy for me,

One reason, they have a US based Indy Racing Car with a wonderful women that sits in the driver seat. I love motor sport racing.

    Well,
This will not help with your High Availability or a great internet connection nor good transfer rates.

    However,

I love watching Danica Patrick race here in the US, and I love watching the GoDaddy logo go by the TV screen.

I agree don't use Indian name registrar, net4.in sucks. They do have support but lacks many features. If you want to transfer domain out they will not allow you easily. they just sucks.

Contrary to all the experiences posted above, my experience with ResellerClub (DirectI) has been pretty eventless. I have just used their domain registration and DNS part, and so far haven't faced any issues, either as a direct reseller, or even sub-reseller. Their Control Panel is definitely a little over-done and complicated, but if you stick to basics, it works well enough.

That said, their hosting services are one mad place, atleast a couple of years back.
