linux bash misspelled words?

This is a discussion on linux bash misspelled words? within the Shell scripting forums, part of the Development/Scripting category; sometime i misspelled the word or commands at shell prompt...is there any way i can correct them without using delete ...

Default linux bash misspelled words?

sometime i misspelled the word or commands at shell prompt...is there any way i can correct them without using delete and retype format?

CTRL + T combination
To correct characters press, for example
cat command type as cta, then type CTRL + T

ALT + T key combination
To correct words
For example you type command

cat filename

as
filename cat

To correct (swap) words just hit ALT + T

CTRL+T and ALT+T only interchange the last two letters or words typed on the shell prompt. Atleast thats what they do for me here on FC2.

For instance if i typed 'alias' and pressed CTRL+T...it would shuffle between 'alisa' and 'alias'.

I dont think there exists any spell checker for commands entered on the shell prompt. I'd be interested if something of this sort existed.
