Question bond, physical and logical disconnection

bond0
- eth0, eth2
- ip: 10.1.1.1

bond1
- eth1, eth3
- ip: 10.1.1.2

ifdown bond0 , bond1 is up
- can ping bond1

ifdown bond1, bond0 is up
- can ping bond0

ifconfig eth0 down, eth2 is up
- can ping bond0, bond1

ifconfig eth2 down, eth0 is up
- can ping bond0, bond1

ifconfig eth2, ifconfig eth0
- cannot ping bond0, bond1

it appears that when the interfaces are physically down, the routing table is not updated. thus on the system perspective, the bond is still up. both interfaces consisting the bond is physically down, but it continues to be logically up.

is there a way to resolve this?
