Thread: DHCP ip assignment.

in may lan i am using dhcp server to serve ip using mac address. But sometimes when the ip's are free some new client got those IP which are already declare in conf file to serve aganist mac. How can i prevent new people not to get ip that already booked aganist mac.

Can you post your DHCP subnet settings please?

Check you have this line in to specify the dynamic range - in this example only those 20 addresses will be assigned to machines whos MAC's are not entered:
range dynamic-bootp 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.120;

Then when you spcify your MAC restrictured list be sure not to use IP's in this range.
