I am using Debian GNU/Linux, DynDNS, sendmail, BIND9. After connection to INternet the address is automatically updated. nslookup and host resolve the correct IP, so do telnet on port 25 and smtp - mail sent from a web mail account arrived correctly, but ping resolves an absolutely wrong IP. It seems that also other people have same problem, but no answer to question - what is the reason? What went wrong on ping, or what is the difference between resolving mechanisms of ping and the others?
