Anything but should be simple and clear.

i have done IP address checking, available hosts and checking IP address, MAC address, subnet mask from /sbin/ifconfig

but if you have anything new just let me know. Any help much appreciated.

Try the following:
  1. install iptraf a console-based network monitoring utility
  2. Also, try : Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 / CentOS 5 monitor and track TCP connections on the network (eth0)

???menu driven program for network information???


Cant you use "system-config-network".


It will give only configuration info.
