Is there a program available to Linux that can be used to manage settings, installed packages, authorized users and network shares in the same manner as Windows Domains?
I am looking to be able to manage user access for many machines from a single server, as well as load a client, log in, and have the client configure the settings and packages on the workstation. I am still new to networking within Linux and I am trying to find a solution to replace M$ that is comparable to what can be done with M$ Domain services. EDIT: My googling only turned up LDAP responses which only covers a part of the solution I am looking for (consolidated directory services)...unless I am misunderstanding it.
