Red face Mail Server Networking Problem

Hi all,

I am using RHEL 4.0 as OS for my Mail Server, using Postfix and Dovecot. My mails are working fine, but the problem is,

Whenever the Server is restarted, the Mail flow is stopped. I cannot ping any machine. Then i have to reconfigure the IP configuraton, means i have to configure it with another ip, restart the service, again configure with the old ip and then restart the service. Then only it will work.

Actually i am using two ip's for my Mail Server, one for incoming mails and another for outgoing purpose. But i have configured one ip only, which we use for incoming mails.

This has been a hectic job for me a we have to configure again and again when there is apower failure or so. What might be the cause of this problem?? Can anyone help??

Have you configured static IP address? Type the following command to configure it with static IP:
Code:
setup
Select Network configuration > Configure interface with IP and all info. Save and close. Reboot to see the changes.
