Default Unexpected shutdown

my system has been shutdown unexpectedly due to power failure now my system is giving me some error msg whenever i try open terminal or anything the first msg when loading GUI is
an error occurred while loading or saving configuration information for gnome-panel some of your configuration setting may not work properly..the menue application has disappear and everything from desktop im using RedHat Enterprise Linux WS version 4.. i dont't want to reinstall OS again as i have data.. and lots of work has been done.. any help would be much appreciated.

Default

Check your disk with fsck command. Unmount the partition and run fsck on it, try the following tutorial:
