Unhappy kernel panic -not syncing attempt to kill init

Hi ,

I am using RHEL 3.0 , i am getting this error in my server when it starts up , up to yesterday night it was working fine .


Red Hat nash Version 4.1.18 starting
mkrootdev: lable / not found
mount: error 2 mounting ext3
mount: error 2 mounting none
switchroot" mount failed:22
umount /initrd/dev failed:2
kernel panic - not synching : attempted to kill init

I have not change my Motherboad or not even change IDE Master or slave status .

Please Help ...

Try to boot your box in single user mode and run fsck to see if there are any errors on hard disk

Hi ,

I have tried it but there is no error in it , even try to point the / partition manually in grub.conf like /dev/hdx but even that also is not working ...please help monk...
