Default Problems with squirrelmail and imap

Hey guys. I think i configured everything fine, as when i run the configtest on squirrelmail it says everything looks like its working fine. But when i login to squirrelmail im gettin the following errors:

ERROR: Could not complete request.
Query: SELECT "INBOX"
Reason Given: Unable to open this mailbox.

this on the top frame
and on the left frame:

ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: SUBSCRIBE "INBOX.SentItems"



any ideas what went wrong?

What error message do you see in /var/log/maillog file?

this is in the /var/log/mail.err

does it help?

this in the mail.log file after trying to connect to the mail server via squirrelmail.
if it helps. i can send mail through the command line using:
mail rcordeiro@mars.av.it.pt
although i noticed it was going to mbox and not Maildir.
Problem?

You may have reached the mailbox limit...

We often see our client exceeding mailbox limit such as 500MB. Delete some backup mail and you should able to use it again

impossible. its a fresh install of squirrelmail and no mail (other than test mail) has been sent to any of the users mailboxes.
any other ideas?

Hmm

Are you sure - IMAP is configured properly? Try to telnet localhost 143 and provide username and password
