I remember seeing a linux command somewhere that would allow you to see the Serial Number of the machine you are running on and Model Type. I am running fedora on a IBM thinkcentre. Does anyone know of a command that will do this or was I dreaming this up?
Please let me know if anyone knows of a command that does this or possibly it was just reading the bios info from the command line. I have searched and not found anything. Perry |

Have you visited /proc file system? For example to see battery serial number you can use command
Code:
less /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info Code:
dmesg | less dmesg | grep -i serial

I def. looked around in all those areas and didn't find exactly what I thought I had seen before. This was one command that you ran with some options and it gave all kinds of info on the system. Like I said I could have been dreaming about this or made it up in my head, but I thought I saw it somewhere.
