Thread: install and configure vmware server on Ubuntu Linux server

Ok, guys now vmware is free to download http://www.vmware.com/download/server/

My plan is as follows
Use vmware from above url
Install on Ubuntu and try out FreeBSD and run xp inside VMWARE

But after registering on site I discovered that they have only RPM and tar.gz file. No package for Ubuntu or Debian Linux

How do I install and configure vmware server? Please help me

You can install .tar.gz package.

Before installing tar.gz package make sure you have gcc compiler and kernel header libraries are installed.

Next untar and just run vmware installer. It will automatically compile the required modules for you.
