I am using Fedora core Linux and HP Pentimu Mobile laptop.

My problem is when i type poweroff command to stop the system, my laptop computer unable to power off.

It works with Windows XP. I duno what is wrong or may be some settings. So my question is why is my laptop computer unable to power off when I shutdown or point out me to correct command.

Make sure your kernel is compiled with Power Interface (ACPI) calls. Also make sure
package AMD (Advanced Power Management) installed .

If your laptop's BIOS only supports ACPI then it may not work.
