Default how much load a web server can take?

Hi all,

I am planning to get VPS or dedicated box for site but i have no idea about UNIX (BSD) or Linux.

I would like to know how much load a web server can take, so that I can order dedicated server or linux vps server for my needs

jerry give us more information. What software you would like to use (PHPBB or forum software).. how many users going to use site at a time then it is possible to tell ...

Monk

Site will be in PHP and Mysql

Max 1000 user at a time or 1500 at pick time. Yup we are going to use vBulletin php softwares

Go for P4 or AMD CPU with 1GiB and SCSI hard disk. Once you got system/server setup apache/forum software and other stuff.

Then use ab tool to benchmarks your web server. Adding 1GiB RAM will improve performance ( http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/howto-...eb-server.html )

thanks monk ill see if i can run it usng AMD with 1gig and ill use ab command too
