CRC = Cyclic Redundancy Check
It can occurred almost on any device from modems, networks to hard drivers. Basically it is used to verify the reliability of data. It uses mathematically calculation to detect it. If you are getting errors on CD that means CD has problem, if you are getting errors on hd that means disk has problem. Under windows you can use scandisk and under linux you can use fsck. My guess is when your kernel was installed it might be not installed correctly or your boot loader GRUB/Lilo not installed correctly. In both case you can boot the system into emergency mode and perform the operation. Hope this put some light ... let me know ... |
