Default rpm database is corrupted, how to fix it?

I think my RPM database is bad i.e. it may be corrupted and I'm not able to install any new package. any suggestions to fix problem

You can rebuilding the rpm database with rpm command itself.
Login in as root user and type the following command:

rpm --rebuilddb
If above command fails then you can recreate RPM database with the following command:

rpm --initdb
