Default remotely running X from other system

I am yet to learn much about X and I am a bit puzzled.

What is X-server and what is X-client and what is X-Application.

How can we display the contents of my Desktop running....say FC4, in the screen of my Laptop running SuSE 9.3. In this scenario, how does Linux authenticate.

I need to know all. I have also read somewhere that we can run X applications thru ssh. How can we go about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

You need vncserver installed on FC4 server. Then install vncclient on Suse 9.3 client. You need to create an account on FC4. And then use this account from suse to get server display.

tom,
Thanks for the reply. But I do know that it is possible thru VNC.

I have heard somewhere about xhost +. But never got thru...how to go about it. So, I was a bit curious. I am sure, there are other ways to have an X-diplay on remote machines. Just want to know how.

Cheers
