Hello..I have got a strange problem...
I was using Mandriva (2009 Gnome) when the windows went a bit odd,the multi-desktop thingie stopped working and then everything froze.Nothing could unfreeze it,I couldnt force quit.... Anyhows, after leaving it for half an hour, nothing had happened and I had to use the horrible reset button... Now it wont let me back into Mandriva at all,I can only use the XP partition (Im dual Booting) or use the live CD.. It tells me there is a file error in Linux and I must enter a password or Ctrl D to reboot. It will not let me enter anything.... Has anyone any idea why, and how can I get to my files??There are not many I havent backed up yet,but there are a few...Is there any way I can recover my files from the live cd,and then do another total install??? Please Please help... AW |

Look like disk / partition corruption problem.
Enter your password. At a shell prompt unmount each partition and run fsck Code:
fsck /dev/hdX1 Code:
fdisk -l
