Default Unsure of which flavour I should choose....

Hi all..Im relatively new to Linux,Ive been dual booting with Mandriva and XP for a little bit to get my head around it..And now I have a little poser for you.

I'm about to be living and working where there is no mains electricity for a while, so will have to lose the desktop temporarily () .I have a (somewhat prehistoric)laptop that I plan to take with me as a media player/internet only machine. When I say prehistoric, here are its specs...

128MB RAM 10 GB HDD 866 Ghz P3 processor

Now,Ive tried Puppy 4.02 on it but am having loads of issues.Namely-getting any video codecs to work (even vlc just plays the audio) firefox and seamonkey has a really irritating habit of quitting for no due reason (memory??) and it just seems really unstable to me.

Can anyone suggest an alternative distro that will suit my needs?I'm getting a little frustrated!!!Literally, all i require it for is a music player / movie player (XVid/avi/vob) and web browser...

Any feedback will be massively appreciated

Cheers again

AW

RAM is real problem for you. Do you see any error on screen or error log files such as /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

Ok get DAM small linux from DSL information

Use Mplayer or Xine to play movies. Use XMMS or Beep Media player to play mp3s

Install Linux on hard disk and turn on swap space. It should be double of your RAM. Also, make sure video card is detected and working properly. Do you know the make of your card?

Update us on your progress or problem.
