Fedora 8 will be maintained until 1 month after the release of Fedora 10.So you must have something wrong with yum.

Default Upgrade issue

So what is the next step of action. Should load Fedora 10 or yum needs to rectified.

Also have a question on Shell scripting. How do change the chmod for running the script.

You need to fix yum. Do you see any errors in /var/log/yum.log or on screen when you run command:
Code:
yum update
You can also turn on debug mode:
Code:
yum -v update
Another option is try Fedora 9 but Fedora 8 is not working for you.

What is the error message you are receiving? what does /var/log/yum.log log says after you run the yum update command?
