Default How many secondary partitions can create on Linux?

Hello All,

We can create max 4 primary partitions.
But what about secondary partitions? Is there any hard core limit value set ?

I think 64 is max limit. It was mentioned in Red Hat doc.

Its 0-63 for IDE hard drives and 0-15 for SCSI hard drives

ya there is a limit upto 16 u can create for ext3

sorry up to 64 for ext3
