Default driver update

Hi,

I am using ubuntu 6.10 edgy Desktop system , I was step up it using ati agp card which gone bad so I changed the card with nvidia fx 5200. But now it is not able to set this case auto. Rest of the system is fine but not able to get the GUI. How can I make X up .Pl help.
Also can I do upgrade this version with 7.10 using cdrom and how?
I tried to start installation using new cd of 7.10 but is not showing any upgrade option at the time of installation.
Even I tried to update source list and upgrade but it gives error at the time of ubuntu archive.
Will upgrade of system also solve my display problem?

Thanks in advance..

You need to download and install new nvidia driver from nvidia web site. Also your distribution is outdated if possible get latest ubuntu version.
