Default I wonder how to have correct sound out of the speakers.

Thank you for helping me.
I cannot play sounds from the computer.
I have it seems two cards on my system that manage the sounds.

One of them has its output on the front panel (and according to what i read on the gui sound manager of gnome it should be called 'NVidia CK804 (Alsa mixer)'

The second one according to the same source is called 'Realtek ALC850 rev 0 (OSS Mixer)'. Its output is a 5.1 on the rear side of the computer. This last one is built altogether with the mother card which is a 'Asus A8N Deluxe SLI'.

I would like to use the one on the rear side ie the 'Realtek ALC850 rev 0' but it doesn't work.

Is this card can be driven by ALSA, if so how to make it recognized by ALSA ?

Presently, when i try testing the sound with the gui interface 'sound' of Gnome it hardly plays anything (almost unearable) if ever it plays something.

I wonder what to do for having normal sound through the 'Realtek ALC850 rev 0'.

Thank you to everyone who would had a clue for fixing this problem.

I wish to every reader a nice day.

Default

Just adjust sound properties.

There will a sound ICON on right side, double click on it > Set up PCM and other properties.

Default Adjusting doesn't work it seems.

Thank you for your reply.

Volume levels seems to be correctly tuned after checking in the GUI Gnome sound configurator.
The sound does work when speakers are plugged on the front side and selecting 'NVidia CK804 (ALSA mixer)' in the sound-configurator of Gnome. But only the right side work, the left one hardly does. Ihave checked the wire and it's OK (both sides work when plugged to a stereo radio).

Plugging the speakers on the rear side and selecting the sound card 'realtek ALC850 R0 (OSS sound mixer)' in the GUI sound configurator of Gnome gives this message when I select the 'test' :
audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback. Device is being used by another application.
And when i select 'Automatic detection' of the sound card, the test gives an extremely weak sound (but on both sides this time), hardly earable when speaker are turned at maximum.

So, plugged on the rear-side , the speakers still don't make any correctly earable sound. And plugged on front-side only left speaker works correctly althought wire and speakers are OK.

What do you think about it ? Maybe is there a file to edit ..?

Thank you for replying me.

Have a nice day.
