Default HP-UX UNIX creating the make_recovery tape

You must have ignite-ux package installed. Go to hp.com to get latest version.

Once installed edit /var/opt/ignite/recovery/makrec.append fille and add noncore OS file if you in backup

Make sure you have enough space @ /var
Code:
bdf /var
Put tape in drive and run make_recovery (default is /dev/rmt/0m). Type the following command to create recovery tape:
Code:
make_recovery
You can specify other tape device by entering -d /path/to/other/tape:
Code:
make_recovery -d /dev/path/to/other/tape
It may take 30-60 minutes to create recovery tape. Lookout for any errors in the following files
  1. /var/opt/ignite/logs/makrec.log1
  2. /var/opt/ignite/logs/makrec.log2
Use check_recovery to update tape,
Code:
check_recovery
Note - restore this tape on the system which it was created. Read man pages for more info.

Hope this helps.
