Hello,

Welcome to forum!

First of all there is no shortage of Linux jobs but most IT companies demands experience. The key is to have multiple skills and multiple certificates. I hold 5 different certificates with many years of experience. I recommend doing RHCE, MCSE and CCNA. This will ensure good salary / package at the end of day. Many IT companies pays the fees of certification just ask to your manager or HR person.

You can give exam if you know what you are doing. Make sure you understand how exam is covered i.e. nature of questions. Also make sure you practice and debug networking and sys admin related topics.

Good luck with exams!

hey guys,

Can some one whose taken the RHCE exam please explain how the exam is covered. According to what i've understood from the Redhat site is that for the RCHE exam you need

i)RH033 Red Hat Linux Essentials
ii)RH133 System Administration RH253
ii)RH253 Red Hat Linux Networking & Security Administration

Right now im reading the Mcgraw hill RHCE RH302 study guide , is this the right book to be reading for the exams , are there any other books for the exam,TIA

Cheers,
Donovan

Well for me I would never take a cert. only if it is needed by my job or to get a new job. I think the real cert. is to just keep TESTING and trying by your own.

I have a bunch of cert. and currently waiting my schedule and VISA to take the Novell CLP.

I would recommend starting with a CCNA, Linux+, RHCE, any Security Cert.

I completely agree , you learn more by practice. But most companies these days ask for a few certificates. According to me certification is mere paper value , u can easily download the dumps for an exam and then appear for test. jus my 2 cents
