Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the forums. I've been using Linux for about a year now, but never got into learning more about Linux cuz I was just using the GUI. I decided I wanted to learn more and I've started using CBT Nuggets Debian and it's really helpfull. I just found this forum by accident and thought I'd join since there's probably lots of information here and people who have more experience with linux. I'm eventually wanting to take the LPI-1 but it will be a while before I'm ready for that. Nice to meet you all and hope to learn more here

What the hell is CBT Nuggets Debian?

Basically they are training videos(with focus on Debian) where you have an instructor who explains the material and than shows how it works. I find it easier than just using a book on the side because you than actually see how it works. I sometimes find it that books and examples on the internet can be confusing while these training videos are really helpful and easy to understand.

I just started following these videos and taking notes and practicing with the material, once I'm finished with it I will continue with the book since the book is made for preparing for the LP1-1 exam.

I've played around with CentOS for a bit but since I got these videos I've been more into debian. I find it confusing as while stil learning the basics of Linux to switch back and forth between .rpm disto's and .deb distros. So sticking with a .deb distro until I can find may way around Linux a bit better. Running on debian now as my main OS and have a virtual machine using as my practice machine It's nice to have found the forums here

You should be fine with the yum command for rpm based distro such as Redhat or Centos with third party repo.
