Internet problems
When I configured my modem, I used Earthlink as my ISP. When I use Kinternet to dial in, nothing happens. Is it a modem problem or is it Earthlink? My modem was not detected. I added it manually. I have a US Robotics 56K PCI Faxmodem V.92.

If same modem work with Earthlink but not with other ISP, it is ISP issue. I know few ISP has issues but that was in late 90s and not in 2007. What error message do you see ppp log file or /var/log/messages file?

man 8 chat
i am using DSL since 2000. 8 years no dialup. wewwwwwww! i have got moss and dust on my dialup modem. and with the man 8 chat and vi battle and some serious middle finger to my modem was what i was 8 years back.
