Default Registering an application as a service on linux

Hi,

I have an application written in java running on a Fedora Core 6 machine. How do I configure it to run as a service so that it could be started and stopped using the service command. also i would want to configure it to restart automatically once the server is restarted. Can anyone tell me how this can be done.

Thanks in advance
Regards,
Verruckt

Thanks Callius. I went through the links, one of which was i had been thinking of finalising upon. (Java Service Wrapper). It certainly was helpful to know that also some other people had suggested it.
