Default How to stop hibernate mode on Laptop

Hello,

I have Toshiba laptop (I don`t konw the specific type it is, but i know that it is Pentium III 1GHz, 256 MB Ram, 20 GB HDD, DVD player), and during the installation of any Linux (tried Knoppix, Ubuntu, Mandrake) I have encountered to a problem.

During the installation laptop keeps going into hibernate mode, or sleep I don`t know how to call it. It can be awakened by pressing any key, and it resumes all actions that was doing before sleeping, or hibernating - what ever.

After Linux is installed, when booting into the Linux, it also goes to sleep. Because it resumes actions before sleeping it is possible to log into Linux. The same problem occurs in Linux.

I haven`t found any similar problem on the Internet. Is it a problem with power management? How to solve it?

Big THANX

Try to pass acpi=off option to grub

While booting you will see Grub boot loader

Select the kernel

Press the e key to edit the entry

Select second line (the line starting with the word kernel)

Press the e key to edit kernel entry

Append the word acpi=off

Press ENTER key

Now press the b key to boot the Linux kernel w/o acpi support

Also goto your bios and find out acpi sleep option and try to disable the same. Since it is old lappy you need to go through some trial and error

It is working with Ubuntu! Finally I can rest my fingers.

Now I`ll try with mandrake.

I can`t resolve the problem on Mandrake.
I have entered into GRUB changed everything, but no results.

What next?
