Default openldap configuration on rhel5

Hi,

I want to configure openldap server for user authentication on RHEL 5. As like NIS server. I am able to start ldap server after modification /etc/openldap/slapd.conf file.
I'm not aware with other configuration. like providing users home directory. client end settings, etc.
I am new to openldap. Any buddy please send me step by step configuration for the same.

Regards,
Chandar

Hi ,

I think you should use phpldapadmin or some GUI utility like this to do rest of the work of addition and deletion of user and doing rest of the configuration.Using command line will be tough to u as u are new to openldap.
FYI u can use ldapadd , ldapsearch and much more commands to do this task.

OpenLDAP Software 2.4 Administrator's Guide . As mentioned, it'll be much easier to use a frontend like phpldapadmin if you're not comfortable with cli. Also try this link:
