Moved to DNS server.

No there is no migration tool exists. You may have to write your own Perl / Python based tool.

Hi Vivek,

Thank you very much for your reply. I will explain you my situation below. Please have a look.

~~~~~~
I need to migrate DNS from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10. I will explain the situation.
I have set up DNS on both Solaris Servers. Now i have Solaris 8 with BIND 9.2.1 with Master-Slave setup (One Master and One Slave).
Now i want to migrate to Solaris 10 with
BIND 9.3.6-P1 version with same Master-Slave set up. Main problem is i want minimal downtime or possibly no downtime.
Could you please suggest me any best way to migrate DNS so that downtime will be less.
~~~~~~~

Eagerly waiting for your reply.

Thanks,

Bind 9.2.1 and Bind 9.3.6 works with same zone files and named.conf options. So all you have to do is copy files and restart named.

Here is what I will do.. first update slave server. Copy all files and keep same directory layout. But, do not start the server. Run named-checkconf and named-checkzone check for errors. If everything reported okay. restart slave. Now, slave is migrated. Apply same to master. Check it and restart.

HTH
