I want to set MaxNegativeCacheTtl and MaxCacheTtl values on a Linux box. I tested my java code on a Windows XP box and did something similar to what is shown here DNS in Windows XP Tip! and set OS DNS settings.I want to make it OS independent
For XP, I added two properties inside REGEDIT to set OS caching. I assume I will have to make some changes to some conf file in Linux. I am still researching on where these changes are going to sit. J My motive is to NEVER cache a bad SMTP address and cache a good address for 20 mins. Any Linux user who can help me ...I would be thankful Cheers |

Take a look at
How To Flush Linux / UNIX DNS Cache You may find that your OS is not caching dns at all. It depends if you have a caching daemon installed. Cheers |
