Default Installing Cent OS Linux on Windows Vista

I am trying to install cent OS 4.5 version linux on my already
existing windows vista. When I am trying to install it from the cd I
am getting errors as cannot partition or partition failed: there is no
enough usable free space. I tried in several ways but couldn't figure
out. Please provide me a step by step procedure for installing linux. I
am mainly facing problems with partitioning hard drive and allocate it
for linux. I am not knowing how to do it. please help me as soon as
possible.

You simply cannot install Linux on NTFS or FAT32 partition. You need to re partition current disk. If hard disk size is 40GB and if C: 20G and D: 20G, you cannot install Linux until and unless
Backup D: and Format D: and install Linux on D:
Add new hard disk
Repartition Linux for ext3

All of these option can result in data loss so be careful.
