Hi all,
I am having some doubt on TTL field in IP packet.. Is it set in no of hop counts or time? i am little bit confused.. bcz i am working on SNORT IDP.. This is just for the info.. inorder to allow ping for some time limit or packet size.. And I have requirement to allow ping with packet size is just less than 100bytes.. how to do this through IPTables?

TTL is an integer number, decremented by 1 at each hop long its path. When it reaches zero, it's simply dropped. This stops it getting caught in loops etc.
