Angry INIT:Id "x" respawning too fast:

we have both GNOME and KDE installed on our server..
after uninstalling GNOME..
there... the error... init: id x respawning too fast: disabled for 5mins..

tried reinstalling gnome, and x window system.. failed
and it seems that services are stopped...
system could not even recognize >> shutdown -r now..
chkconfig >> not recognized...

help pls.. tnx.
